Dear Diefenbaker Community
It’s been a blink of an eye since September and now June is here, and it’s been an amazing school year. I am exceptionally proud of the growth and maturity I have seen from our students over the last ten months. City Championships, music festival awards, countless scholarships, community initiatives recognition, record breaking fundraising for the Children’s Hospital and consistent academic excellence above the provincial average are just a snapshot of the standard that John G. Diefenbaker students exemplify.
This level of success for our students is not possible if not for the time, dedication and intentional supports of the teachers and support staff of JGD. Consistent feedback from our students is that “ teachers are one the best parts of Diefenbaker”. Thank you to our Teachers and Support Staff who strive to improve year after year. Congratulations to Ms. MacDonald and Ms. Middleton on their retirements and I look forward to announcing our new staff at the start of the 2025/26 school year.
To have students meet their potential, we need the continued involvement of caregivers, parents, and extended family members. I have appreciated the involvement and feedback provided by the Diefenbaker community. Our School Council has played a vital role in supporting student success and opportunities. Fundraising by School Council has allowed us to purchase modern novel sets to represent the diversity of our student population, new outdoor education equipment for a growing program, technology to support learning needs, and equipment and supplies for our construction lab. Our Diefenbaker Parent Voice is an important part of our decision making, and I invite any interested parents and caregivers to join our School Council.
To our graduating students and families, congratulations. I wish you the best in whatever adventure life takes you.
Thank You!
Jason Arrell
